Abakanowicz’s early tapestry resemble old carpets worn and tattered by lot of use.

Abakanowicz saw fibre, “as the basic element constructing the organic world… the tissue of plants, leaves and ourselves, our nerves, our genetic codes… We are fibrous structures.” she said.

The art blueberry in the first installation you encounter at Mike Nelson’s art exhibition at the Hayward gallery. The red light in there seemed to resemble a photographic dark room. The light and the set up seemed to bring you into a time-lagged alternative dimension.

Rebel Rebel is the first major UK commission by Iranian artist Soheila Sokhanvari that explores the contradictions of Iranian women’s who lived between 1925 and 1979, the year the Islamic Revolution took place. A period of liberation and commodification.

Soheila Sokhanvari art exhibition is currently at The Curve, Barbican Art Centre, where it celebrates feminist icons from pre-revolutionary Iran.

Bartuszova’s art show at Tate touches on themes such as belonging, growth and infinity. Her evocative artworks suggest raindrops, seeds or eggs. Others the human body in interesting erotic ways. Read more on link in profile.
